$mall ˘hange started out DJing thru radio, and its still one of his favorite mediums for spinnin'. Obviously there's a lil' more freedom when there isn't a dancefloor, or a need to keep people drinking (like most club gigs). So its a shame that radio these days is a joke, corrupted corporate commercialized crap, especially in the NYC area.
But there is an oasis or three out there, especially
WFMU. In case you're sleeping, WFMU is one of the nation's preeminent freeform stations, is fully 100% listener sponsored, streams and archives all of its shows and really pushes the boundaries for what is possible over the airwaves.
After a lil' hiatus, $mall ˘hange is back in all his cracked out glory on a weekly basis. Nickel and Dime Radio airs every Wednesday Night/Thursday Mournin' from 2am-6am EST. 91.1fm in the NJ/NYC area or live stream at wfmu.org. Plus there's loads of archives and playlists to wade thru. So put on your musical galoshes, your happy helmet, your 3 button suit and a pair of shelltoes with the fat laces and lets get this schlitz started!

archives and playlists.
$mall ˘hizzle is also starting yet another weekly radio ting, on EVR aka eastvillageradio.com. 'The Big Cover Up' will air Wednesdays from 4pm-6pm starting July 11th. It will be sponsored by Re:Up magazine, in correlation with the regular column in the magazine, check for it! Lotsa of mystery sets from some of the deepest diggers in the biz. Don't schlafen! Full info at
EVR's site.
You can find a few $mall ˘hange mixes at
AOL's online dance radio dilly, including a live set from the Guggenheim and a Flavorpill event for the 'Long Tail' book. AOL definitely has a nice roster of regular contributing folks, so czeck it, czeck it.
Also $˘ has contributed to
Giant Step's Jukebox. They're recordings of the live sessions from $m ˘hiz and DJ Sims' Stolen Moments party from last summer, including guest sets from Steinski, Phast Phreddie, Pat Longo (Primitive Sound System) and more! Its jazz by sensibility, rather than strict definion. Giant Step has been around for over 15 years promoting quality under and overground muzak through parties, promotions, a record label, and now online radio. They've already gathered a nice group of folks for regular shows, DJ Center, Qool Marv, Mr. Scruff, Rude Movements, and Gilles Peterson. And mice-elf. So poke around thurr.
